Industrial Emergency Lighting Upgrade

Oscar Mayer Food Manufacturing Wrexham

Client: Oscar Mayer

Arrow Electrical completed a six-month emergency lighting upgrade programme at Oscar Mayer's food processing facility in Wrexham, North Wales. Our team replaced and upgraded the existing emergency lighting systems throughout the factory, installing a modern Wi-Fi-enabled emergency lighting solution across production, storage, welfare and high-risk operational areas. The new system improved compliance, simplified testing procedures and enhanced visibility across the site.

Planning

Our team worked closely with site management to develop a phased installation programme that aligned with the factory's operational requirements. As the facility operates continuously, we carefully planned each stage of the project to minimise disruption to production while maintaining safe working conditions. Before work began, we surveyed each area of the site, identified existing infrastructure requirements and developed installation schedules around operational activities. This proactive approach allowed us to maintain progress throughout the six-month programme while supporting the site's day-to-day operations.

The challenge

The size and complexity of the facility presented the project's biggest challenge. Our engineers worked across multiple production areas, storage zones and high-risk environments, each with its own operational and safety requirements. The team needed to replace existing emergency lighting systems while ensuring continuous compliance and maintaining safe access throughout the factory. To overcome these challenges, we coordinated closely with site management and other contractors, scheduling works carefully to avoid disruption and maintain production efficiency.

Solution

Arrow Electrical delivered a complete emergency lighting upgrade across the entire facility. Our engineers removed outdated emergency lighting equipment and installed a modern Wi-Fi-enabled emergency lighting system. The new technology allows site teams to monitor, test and manage emergency lighting assets more efficiently while reducing the time required for routine compliance checks. Throughout the project, our team maintained strict safety standards and followed site-specific procedures when working in operational and high-risk areas.

completion

Over six months, our engineers successfully upgraded the emergency lighting infrastructure throughout the factory. The new system provides reliable emergency illumination, supports regulatory compliance and gives the site greater visibility and control through centralised wireless monitoring. We completed the project on schedule and coordinated every phase around the client's operational requirements, ensuring a smooth transition to the upgraded emergency lighting system.
