Arrow Electrical completed a major electrical upgrade at the TruckEast workshop in Wellingborough. Our team upgraded the main distribution board and several additional distribution boards across the site during a planned weekend shutdown. The project required careful coordination, detailed planning and precise execution to complete all works within a strict 48-hour shutdown window.

Planning

Our team carried out a detailed site survey to identify the equipment required and develop the most efficient installation strategy. Following the survey, we created a detailed project plan to ensure we could complete the upgrade within the two-day shutdown period. We also placed orders for specialist equipment several months in advance, giving suppliers enough time to deliver all components before work began. By securing materials early and planning every stage of the installation, we reduced the risk of delays and ensured the project remained on schedule.

The challenge

The project timeline presented the biggest challenge. The shutdown began at 6:00 pm on Friday and ended at 6:00 pm on Sunday, giving our engineers just 48 hours to isolate the electrical systems, remove existing equipment, install the upgraded distribution boards, complete all connections and carry out testing. To meet the deadline, our specialist industrial electrical engineers worked continuously throughout the weekend. The team followed a carefully planned programme to maintain progress and ensure every stage of the installation met the required safety and quality standards.

The Solution

Arrow Electrical coordinated every stage of the shutdown and upgrade process. Our engineers safely isolated the existing electrical infrastructure, removed the outdated equipment and installed the new distribution boards. Throughout the project, the team monitored progress closely and worked to a detailed schedule to keep the installation on track. This structured approach allowed us to complete the upgrade efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and safety.

After completing the installation, our engineers carried out comprehensive electrical testing and inspections across all upgraded systems. The team verified the performance and safety of the new equipment before issuing the relevant certification and documentation. We completed the project on time and within budget, with minimal disruption, no significant issues and zero delays. The upgraded electrical infrastructure now provides TruckEast with a reliable and modern power distribution system that supports the site's ongoing operations.
